RINGS Selection: Ippodo Tea Bag Set

Today, we would like to introduce the tea served both in our guest rooms and in the lounge: Japanese tea from Ippodo, one of Kyoto's most beloved tea merchants.

Founded in 1717, Ippodo has a history spanning more than 300 years. The name Ippodo, meaning "preserve one," was bestowed by Prince Yamashina, who greatly admired the shop's tea and wished for it to continue its tradition of providing exceptional quality tea for generations to come.
Known for its rich umami flavor and elegant aroma, Ippodo tea is primarily cultivated in the hilly regions between the Uji and Kizu River basins across Kyoto, Nara, and Shiga Prefectures, an area blessed with ideal natural conditions for tea production.

Ippodo offers around thirty varieties of tea. At our hotel, guests can enjoy the following selections:
・One complimentary sencha tea bag per guest in each room (replenished during housekeeping service)
・Complimentary sencha, gyokuro, and hojicha tea bags available in the lounge

For guests who would like to take the taste of Kyoto home, we also offer an Ippodo Tea Bag Set featuring all three varieties. As part of our original shop, "RINGS Selection", this carefully curated set makes a perfect keepsake of your stay in Kyoto or a thoughtful gift for family and friends.

The Ippodo Tea Bag Set is available for purchase at the front desk for ¥810 (tax included).
